2023 Update
The year started off with a very successful Burn Night Quiz, the hall was duly decorated and the haggis toasted and honoured for another year. The quiz was a very tight contest but the winning team of Messrs Jones, Cartwright and Greenhowe were worthy victors.

The Heritage Centre will open for the 2023 season on Saturday 1st April with a new exhibition on Farming Past and Present. A talk with tea will take place in the afternoon starting at 2pm when local farmer Roger Richmond will recount his recollections and the changes in the industry he has experienced during his farming career.
In July a new exhibition on Tourism and the Railway in Blue Anchor will be staged. As always the committee appreciate past stories, anecdotes, photos and memorablia connected to the history of Carhampton and Blue Anchor, its people and events.

Weekly croquet, table tennis, dance and yoga classes are held at the Rec with badminton by arrangement.

The Rec bookstore continues to be very popular opening to coincide with the heritage centre on Tuesday afternoon from 2.30 - 4.30pm and again on Saturday morning from 10.30am - 12 noon.
We have over 1500 books modestly priced at 50p each or 3 for a £1, there is something to suit all tastes and genres.
Post Office
After a year of being without a post office, we now have a mobile post office held in the Long Hall at the Recreation Centre every Thursday afternoon from 2pm to 3.30pm. All services normally provided are available e.g. cash withdrawl, paying of bills, postal services etc. The only transactions not carried out are applications for car tax and passports.
A Pop-Up cafe is held whilst the post office is in operation providing a warm space for everyone to meet up and chat.
Rec Facilities
There are two halls available, namely a sports hall and a function room known as the Long Hall, modern kitchen with 70 place settings, toilet facilities and refurbished changing rooms and showers for home and away teams.
During the last 12 months a permanent Heritage Centre has been established in what was the meeting room, this has increased the use and number of people visiting the Rec.
Those using the Carhampton Recreation Centre can enjoy a wide range of sports both indoors and out, as well as community events, quizes, musical evenings, markets, table top sales, and barn dances. The committee aims to organise one fund raising event each month and after overheads have been paid any residue is used to improve and upgrade the facilities at the Rec Centre.
Long Hall Refurbishment - Update

During 2019 the committee undertook to upgrade and refurbish the Long Hall. During June 2019 new double glazed windows and doors were installed and during the autumn thanks to National Lottery funding a new wooden sprung floor was laid in September 2019.
In Late Nov 2019 we were successful with the grant to recarpet the stage, storage area and heritage centre room.
New chairs have now been purchased and compliment the existing decor, they do not mark the floor and are easier to store.
Fundraising will continue with the aim of installing a new central heating system, curtains and blinds. In conjuction with our own fundraising the management committee are continually looking at grants and funding available.
